A Ting from the Viking Age

In 2019, Sagauka in the municipality of Melhus had democracy as a festival theme, it was a municipal election, and Norway celebrated voting rights for everyone for 100 years. For that reason, we did something new; together with Melhus City Council, we recreated a Ting from the Viking Age. With balanced humor and political satire, we illuminated the differences between the saga era and today’s society and politics. Costumes were improvised. Issues relevant both in the past and in the present were raised. Politicians were given the opportunity to speak on the subject, based on their own political stance. The Ting was open to the audience who wanted to attend the event. A lot of fun for everyone involved!
